La humedad de aquellos muros formaba caprichosas formas. El recuerdo

ya estrenados. El convento era uno de ellos. Repitiendo a cada paso
escenas, diálogos y decorados que en otro tiempo casi la condujeron a
la muerte, las condujeron a la muerte. Marjorie entonces estaba a su
lado, como siempre. La persecución angustiante por aquel encapuchado
desconocido, que aún insistía en sus sueños, las dejó abrazadas al
badajo de La Colassette hasta que una de las monjas pudo liberarlas de
su escondite tras el terrible peligro del acechante asesino de Sor
Manolita de Sixdois, su amable profesora y amiga, pocos minutos antes
en el refectorio. Liberarlas de la falta de suelo y del intermitente
vacío, del oscilante paisaje que parecía querer acogerlas en cada
sacudida contra los bordes internos de la enorme campana, en cada
nube, en el humo, en las llamas… ¡Dios mío! Marjorie! Paulette!-
Repetía en mitad de un acceso de tos provocada por el asfixiante
ambiente, en tanto, desesperada, trataba de localizar una salida de la
tupida niebla. Sus ansiosas y suplicantes manos reconocieron la tabla
de su salvación, la rugosa superficie de los muros. Iba a apoyarse en
ella cuando recibió un terrible impacto en la espalda que la arrojó
sin piedad al suelo.
Mientras, refrescada por el ambiente húmedo de la mañana y sonriente
aún entre el trajín de monjas y niñas, La Baronesa de Valbonne buscaba
con avidez el objeto de su interés. Paulette ayudaba a una compañera a
la que milagrosamente sor Marciala acababa de dejar entre sus brazos
tras arrebatársela al dulzón insomnio de la venenosa combustión de
tantos siglos de Historia monacal.

Dejaron Poitou Charentes con nubes y claros, atravesaron Vendée con llovizna , y para cuando traspasaron la frontera con Morbihan un diluvio se cernía sobre los carruajes.
La lluvia siempre les había provocado remembranza.
-Si al menos Madame Moustach estuviera aquí para ayudarnos- suspiró Cordelia mientras se agarraba a un estante tras un fuerte bache.
- Ya hemos demostrado que somos mayorcitas para muchas cosas. Nos debemos a lo que hemos conseguido, y a lo que conseguiremos por nosotras mismas.
- Ser mujer en esta época no tiene mérito por una misma, o recuerda que para llegar donde estás has pasado por camas de palacio, lechos de obispado, tálamos de capitanías, literas en hostales de mala muerte e incluso catres improvisados.
-Y para que ascendieras tú también, no lo olvides nunca.
-Madame Moustach cuidaba mi virgo como jamás cuido el suyo, pero haber sido doncella en aquel tiempo ¿de qué me sirvió?
-Conseguiste ser la mujer más famosa de Paris gracias a tu virtud y gracias a eso, casi reina.

No olvides que los medios nos van a llevar al fin que nos hemos propuesto.- y desperezando un brazo dió un golpe en el techo con un bastón para tal uso. El carruaje paró al instante y Cordelia abrió la portezuela para salir a impregnarse de la fogosa lluvia que casi le lastimaba la cara, estuvo así un momento contemplando el cielo y empapando sus vestidos, luego de ver que su criada salía presurosa del carruaje que iba detrás con un paraguas en la mano, se volvió hacia su compañera de viaje:
- Vuelvo a Paris. Allí será más fácil que consiga saber si la de Valbonne ha pisado cualquier casa y me lleve al rastro de Paulette.
Marie ya había desparramado sobre la cabeza de su señora el paraguas rosa que cubriera los bellos rizos de su protectora . A un gesto suyo, asió el paraguas y la mandó con la mirada que volviera al carruaje del que había venido. Marie agachó la cabeza y obedeció no sin antes mirar por el rabillo del ojo a la dama de verde que iba sentada en este carruaje.
-En cuanto cruce el Canal recibirás carta mía- la notificó Marjorie con la mirada fija en el paisaje que las rodeaba.- No sé porque temo que esta despedida es una de las más tristes que vamos a vivir, esas nubes no traen buenos presagios.
- ¿Fuiste tú? - le preguntó con los ojos acuosos Cordelia a su amiga
-Has tenido un largo viaje para preguntarme- espetó lady Marjorie
-¿Mandaste quemar el convento tú?- insistió su aparentemente frágil amiga.
-Esta lluvia sólo lo habría diezmado.
-¿Fuiste tú?- reintentó la bella Cordelia

Martz-Schmidt
Nacido en Cartagena, en 1922, Gustavo Martínez Gómez, verdadero nombre de Gustavo Martz-Schmidt, es uno de los pilares fundamentales del comic español. De formación autodidacta, hizo sus primeros pinitos en su ciudad natal en la que cosechó varios premios, trasladándose posteriormente a Barcelona (transcurría el año 1949). Tras unos primeros trabajos para empresas como Ediciones Cliper o Hispano Americana de Ediciones, Martz-Schmidt pasa a formar parte de la plantilla del coloso del tebeo español, la Editorial Bruguera. Será ahí y gracias a los consejos de Rafael González donde Gustavo pulirá su estilo adoptando formas más redondeadas y suaves. Suyas son algunas de las mejores páginas del tebeo con personajes como Troglodito, El doctor Cataplasma, Don Usurio, Don Prudencio, Don Danubio, Polvorilla, Deliranta Rococó, Camelio Majareto. En 1972 retomaría el trabajo de “Jorge” para seguir ilustrando nuevas historietas de “Doña Urraca”, abandonadas estas diez años antes por la muerte de su autor.

Then 19, in the all-around of the European Championships, he was the leader in five events and had put up the high score on three events. When he came to high bar, he only needed an 8.75 to win the title. He missed his two major release moves, crashed into the bar on another release move, botched a required element, and stopped in the middle of his routine. He scored a 7.35 and dropped to ninth overall.
A few months later, Aleksei had another showing at the World Championships in Sabae, Japan. The entire Russian team, had a disastrous showing. They were in an astounding 11th place after the 1st round; and Aleksei was in 96th all-around. The team rebounded in the optionals to finish 4th overall (still a disappointment since it marked the first time in decades that the Russians failed to medal in the team competition), while Aleksei put up the highest optional score of all the competitors. His compulsory round prevented him from qualifying to the all-around finals.
Aleksei finally seemed to realize his vast potential at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, winning six medals (two gold, one silver, and three bronze). He performed solidly in the all-around, battling World Champion Li Xiaoshuang every step of the way. However, he ruined his chances for gold when his concentration failed him once again, and he botched his middle tumbling run on the final event. He finished a narrow second.
Aleksei’s considerable Olympic success and newfound worldwide fame seemed for naught, however, as he time after time baffled audiences with his uninspired, inconsistent performances in major international competition. He continually battled recurring shoulder injuries, boredom, and poor fitness level. He failed to win a major all-around title for nearly four years, and many doubted his chances for Olympic gold at the Sydney Olympics. However, he surprised everyone when he arrived at the Olympics doing the best gymnastics of his career, and once again took home six medals. This time, he won the all-around title, finally winning his first major championship of his career.
Although never regaining his incredible form of 2000, Aleksei competed through to the 2004 Athens Olympics, mainly as an anchor for the fledgling Russian team. Though unable to defend his all-around title, Aleksei’s performances brought the house down in Athens, and placed him in the middle of the largest judging controversy in the history of the sport. After performing the most difficult and dazzling routine of high bar finals, marred only by a step on the landing of his dismount, the judges posted a 9.725, placing him in third with several athletes to compete. The Greek crowd erupted in an endless chorus of boos and cheers, interrupting the competition for nearly 15 minutes. The judges felt the pressure of the crowd, reevaluated, and increased his score to a 9.762, still only placing him in third. The crowd continued their raucous protest, which only began to subside after Aleksei stepped up to the podium and pleaded with his supporters to quiet down for the sake of the other athletes. This scandal was finally credited as the last straw after several judging controversies in the competition, and fueled a massive reconstruction of the scoring system which was implemented in 2006. Aleksei took the disappointment in stride and rarely criticised the judges nor the situation. The Russian Olympic Committee later awarded Aleksei $40,000 in recognition of his class and character, and he retired from gymnastics soon after.

According to an investigative report by Mark Ebner, "Barresi moved sharply higher on the Hollywood notoriety scale in 1990 when The National Enquirer ran a front-page story showcasing his relationship with John Travolta. Barresi told the tabloid he’d met Travolta in 1982 when the actor followed him into an L.A. health club."[4] Barresi asked for and received $100,000 from The Enquirer in exchange for the details of his relationship with Travolta.[22] The issue was published on May 8, 1990,[23] but several months later, Barresi retracted his story, saying in a letter to Travolta’s attorney that he’d never engaged in gay activity with Travolta.[24] Barresi told The Guide’s Jim D’Entremont that he did so with assurances from Travolta’s attorney that the matter could be brought "to a soft landing" if he issued a retraction and an apology: "I regretted that initial call to the Enquirer."[22][25]

After making the rounds on the talk show circuit,[2] Barresi became a self-styled private investigator.[26]
In the wake of 1993 child molestation allegations against Michael Jackson, Barresi attempted to sell tabloid gossip in 1994 after secretly taping two accusers in order to scoop them.[27] Barresi claimed he met and dated Stella LeMarque, then surnamed "Marcroft," before she and husband Philippe married. The LeMarques unexpedely showed up at Barresi’s door, two years after being dismissed as workers at Jackson’s [Neverland Ranch] and asked him if he would help them broker their story, claiming that they had witnessed Jackson inappropriately touching Macaulay Culkin.[28] When their asking price was $100,000, Barresi said "’the hand was outside the kid’s pants’ ... [a]s soon as their price went up to $500,000, the hand went inside the pants."[29] Barresi accepted the LeMarque’s offer. It took him less than two weeks to secure a $150,000 cash on the table offer from the National Enquirer, however, by then the LeMarque’s had already hired Beverly Hills attorney Arnold Kessler to broker their story instead. When Barresi confronted them about it, they told him that Kessler promised he could get them a half a million for their story. Because the LeMarque’s went behind his back and cut him out of the deal, the gloves were off. Barresi then moved quickly to sell the LeMarque’s story on his own.
Barresi appeared in a PBS Frontline documentary about the incident and described his involvement:
Barresi: So I called the editor at The Globe and I said, ’I have a tape, I’m on the way down town to hand it to the District Attorney.’ And his words were, ’let us come with you.’ And then I knew I had him. The next thought in my mind was I’m going to ask for $30,000. You always ask for twice as much as what you hope to get. He put me on hold, and within less than a minute he came back and he said ’well, we can’t give you thirty, we’ll give you ten.’ I said ’make if fifteen,’ he said ’you have a deal.’

Barresi: Oh yeah, sure, and I could see that money coming too.[30]
According to Maureen Orth of Vanity Fair, Barresi had arranged the $15,000 deal with The Globe, but he got impatient and contracted tabloid broker Kevin Smith of Splash News Service, who placed it with The Daily Mirror for $2,400. When the Globe deal came through, Smith couldn’t undo the Mirror deal, and the Mirror scoop kept Barresi from getting paid by The Globe. Smith claims Barresi came to his office "with a gun and a huge bodyguard," and Smith arranged for Barresi to get $1,000.[31] In the end, the District Attorney decided that the stories of the LeMarques and that of the Quindoys (who also sold their story to the tabloids) could not be used. Barresi ended up making $30,000 in total on the Jackson story.[30]

Following a 1997 incident involving Eddie Murphy and a transgender prostitute, Barresi attempted to collect sworn statements from other sex workers alleging encounters with Murphy. Ebner notes some received as much as $15,000: "[Barresi] offered them payoffs to reverse their stories and coached them to give false testimony. He personally squired two of them to [Murphy lawyer Marty] Singer’s law office, where they declared under penalty of perjury that they’d lied to the tabs about having sex with Murphy."[4] With the exception of the person with whom Murphy was found, Barresi said, "In less than 10 days, I got them all to sign sworn, videotaped depositions, stating it wasn’t Murphy himself, but rather a look-alike, who they’d encountered.".[32]

Barresi began working with private investigator Anthony Pellicano around the time of the 1994 Jackson incident. According to Barresi, Pellicano would purchase tabloid reporters’ celebrity gossip before it became public. He then would offer to do damage control for $25,000 or more. "He says these people pursue him to hire him, when in fact, he pursues them", said Barresi.[33] Barresi says he also assisted Pellicano in a 1994 investigation of paternity claims involving Barry Bonds and a porn actress.[34] Barresi told ABC News about his work with Pellicano, "[w]henever there was a damaging story involving a celebrity client that involved sex, then I was involved." Barresi said that Pellicano hired him to "get dirt on" Pellicano’s former client Sylvester Stallone. The actor’s phone was allegedly bugged by Pellicano during a lawsuit over Planet Hollywood.[35] Barresi told Vanity Fair that Pellicano had a vendetta against Stallone after the two had a falling-out: "Pellicano hired me on two occasions to find dirt on Stallone. The first time was in 1995 or ’96 and then again in late 2001.".[36] Barresi told LA Weekly that Pellicano hired him when Arnold Schwarzenegger was considering running for governor in 2001, "to look for information that may be of good use to Schwarzenegger’s detractors", so Schwartzenegger’s team could prepare for any damage control.[37] Barresi submitted 27 pages but could not say who requested the probe.[38]
The New York Daily News reported that in November 2002, Barresi arranged for a porn actor to meet with him and Pellicano to discuss selling his story about his alleged London sexual encounter with Tom Cruise.[39] Barresi later felt the story was not credible, but Pellicano informed Cruise’s lawyer, who warned the actor in a letter to drop the matter. Barresi received $5,000 for his efforts after the actor fled to Europe on Barresi’s advice.[33] Barresi is also in possession of illegally taped phone conversations made by Jim Mitteager, the Los Angeles bureau chief of tabloid The Globe. Mitteager died of throat cancer in 1997, and he bequeathed the tapes to Barresi.[40] Barresi told reporter Drew Griffin "[Mitteager] indicated to the person who gave them to me that I would know what to do with them", and Barresi arranged for KCBS-TV to air them in a multi-part series in 2004.[41] The tapes aired by KCBS include a conversation where Pellicano offers Mitteager a story about his new client Jean-Claude Van Damme in return for Mitteager’s dropping one about client Whoopi Goldberg.[42]
In 1999, Barresi says he was assigned by Pellicano to investigate a model who named Chris Rock in a paternity suit.[43]
Barresi also says he was hired to look into the sexual orientation of Gavin de Becker, a successful security consultant of whom Pellicano was reportedly jealous.[44]
He has been sought out for comment by the press as the Pellicano case has unfolded. Barresi told the New York Times he has been aiding the defense team for entertainment lawyer Bertram Fields, a long-term client of Pellicano’s who is now under investigation, in hopes of a later payday.[33] Barresi also reportedly worked with attorneys for producer Jules Nasso in 2006. As part of a lawsuit, they seek Pellicano’s wiretapped calls for any evidence that Steven Seagal ordered Pellicano to terrorize former Variety reporter Anita Busch.[45] In May 2006, Barresi turned over tapes from Mitteager with transcriptions to the FBI.[46]

He was one of the most popular gay adult film stars of the 1980s. When asked in interviews, Jon rarely discussed his life in Florida in much detail, except that it involved quite a bit of "getting into trouble". He had been interested in pornography since finding a Playboy magazine his father owned when he was twelve years old. At some point in his teens, he had read about Jack Deveau, owner of Hand In Hand Films, and sent the producer some dark and fuzzy pictures of himself. Deveau politely turned him down.
Deciding that he was "going places and doing things he’d never done before", John Gaines and his then-lover went to Los Angeles while on summer vacation in 1980, with plans to go back to school in Florida after he had finished having fun. This changed when his lover got a job and the two young men decided to stay. Eventually John picked up a guy cruising who was a model who had an appointment later that day with a photographer. John tagged along to the interview, and was soon on his way as an adult film performer. His start in adult films came with the 1981 film Brothers Should Do It, where he was billed as Jon King, the younger brother of J.W. King. Though the two strongly resembled each other, they were not related. He next appeared in Biker’s Liberty, with Kristen Bjorn, Printer’s Devils, and These Bases are Loaded, again with J.W. King. Later, he would complain that the man who helped him get started in the industry was a "psycho" who screwed him over for money. In 1982, just as he was at the seeming peak of his popularity, he stole a Corvette on a test drive, robbed a Burger King in Gainesville FL then wrecked the car, and for this spent eleven months in prison. Jon was later reluctant to discuss his time in prison to interviewers, only saying that "it wasn’t fun", particularly since his twentieth birthday was spent behind bars.
Making a comeback in 1983, Jon King continued to appear in films and videos throughout the 1980s. Among these were Big Summer Surprise; The Biggest One I Ever Saw (with Lee Ryder and Rick Donovan), Hot Off The Press, Hotel Hell, Inevitable Love, Perfect Summer, Screen Play (again with Lee Ryder), Studhunter, Trick Time (with Tim Kramer), Tyger Tales, Wild Country, and Wild Oats. One of his most memorable scenes was in a hot tub with veteran adult star Kip Noll in 1984’s Kip Noll - Superstar.
Around 1989, Jon retired from the business and moved to Atlanta, where he attended culinary school. Apparently his dreams of becoming a chef did not work out. He made a second comeback in the early 1990s, appearing in Fade In, Fade Out, Wild Country, and the sequel These Bases are Loaded 2. His last video, Pumping Iron, came out in 1995. Jon King had been HIV positive for a number of years, and soon after completing Pumping Iron, he became extremely ill with AIDS. He moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to live with a friend who looked after his needs. It was here that Jon King died from AIDS complications on 8 March 1995. He was cremated and his ashes mixed and scattered with those of his beloved dog, who had died some years earlier.
Jon King’s tight, boyishly muscular body, combined with his thick black hair, deep dark eyes, and a youthful innocence and vulnerability made him very popular with most everyone who saw him. He was often described as a gentle, loving person, who sadly spent his whole life searching for a lasting happiness which he never found. When asked about his popularity, John Gaines commented that being recognized and approached in public as Jon King actually made him uncomfortable, and that he had even quit going to gay bars for that reason. "It’s not that I don’t appreciate it, " he once said of the admiration he received, "I just want to be myself."

La Sirenita
A statue of the Little Mermaid sits on a rock in the Copenhagen harbour (at 55°41′34.39″N, 12°35′56.59″E). This small and unimposing statue is a symbol of Copenhagen, and a major tourist attraction.The statue was commissioned in 1909 by Carl Jacobsen, son of the founder of Carlsberg, after he had been fascinated by a ballet about the fairytale. The sculptor Edward Eriksen created the statue, which was unveiled on 23 August 1913. He used his wife Eline Eriksen as the model.
This statue has been vandalised several times, but has each time been restored. On 24 April 1964, the statue’s head was sawn off and stolen by politically oriented artists of the situationist movement, amongst them Jørgen Nash. The head was never recovered and a new head was produced and placed on the statue. On 22 July 1984, her right arm was sawn off. The arm was returned 2 days later by two embarrassed young vandals. In 1990 another attempt was made to cut her head off, which resulted in an 18 cm deep cut in the neck. On 6 January 1998, she lost her head for the second time, the culprits were never found, but the head was returned anonymously to a nearby TV station, and on 4 February the head was back on.
Red paint has been thrown on her several times, including one episode in 1961 where her hair was painted red and a bra was painted on her. On 11 September 2003, the statue was blasted off its rock, possibly with dynamite. The Little Mermaid was also draped in a burka as a statement about Turkey joining the European Union. On March 8, 2006, a dildo was attached to the statue’s hand, green paint was dumped over it, and the words March 8 were written on it. It is suspected that this vandalism has something to with International Women’s Day (which is on March 8) and that it was committed by anti-feminists. [2] Recently, Copenhagen officials have announced that the statue may be moved further out in the harbour, as to avoid vandalism and tourists climbing onto it.
The relatively small size of the statue typically surprises tourists visiting for the first time. The Little Mermaid statue is only 1.25 meter high and weighs about 175 kg.
There are similarities between the Little Mermaid statue and the Pania of the Reef statue on the beachfront at Napier in New Zealand, and some similarities in the Little Mermaid and Pania tales. The statue of a woman diver (titled "Girl in a Wetsuit" by Elek Imredy) in Vancouver, Canada was placed there when, unable to obtain permission to reproduce the Copenhagan statue, Vancouver authorities selected a modern version.
An undamaged copy of the statue is located in Solvang, California.

Gustavo Moraes
El brasileño Gustavo Moraes, de 30 años, es el modelo de la edición de Agosto de la revista brasileña G Magazine. En Brasil acompañó a Xuxa en su programa "Planeta Xuxa", junto con otro modelo de G Magazine, Theo Becker, quien también fue "papaquito" de Xuxa. (Parish did several soundtracks for Joe Gage/Mac Larsen/Tim Kincaid). Both Roy and Bob retired from the industry late in 1983, I think, and continued with their full-time jobs (Roy was working in a design firm). Ronald Brooks Kitaj (born October 29, 1932) is an American-born artist.He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and studied at the Cooper Union Institute in New York City and, after a short stint in the United States Army, at The Ruskin (1958-59) and the Royal College of Art (1959-61) in London. He subsequently settled in England, and through the 1960s taught at the Ealing School of Art, the Camberwell School of Art and the Slade School of Art. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1991.
Kitaj became a significant contributor to British pop art with his figurative paintings featuring areas of bright colour, economic use of line and overlapping planes which made them resemble collages. Allusions to political history, art, literature and Jewish identity often recur in his work. He also produced a number of screen-prints. His later works have been more personal.
As a draughtsman, Kitaj has few equals among modern artists. His intimate studies of the human form are exquisite and sensual, and psychologically penetrating. His more complex compositions build on his line work using a montage practice, which he called ’agitational usage’. Kitaj often depicts disorienting landscapes and impossible 3D constructions, with exaggerated and pliable human forms. He often assumes a detached outsider point of view, in conflict with dominant historical narratives. This is best portrayed by his masterpiece "The Autumn of Central Paris", 1972-73. In this painting the philosopher Walter Benjamin is portrayed, as both the orchestrator and victim of historical madness. The futility of historical progress creates a disjointed architecture that is maddening to deconstruct.
Kitaj was one of several artists to make a post-it note in celebration of 3M’s 20th anniversary. When auctioned on the internet in 2000, the charcoal and pastel piece sold for $925, making it the most expensive post-it note in history, a fact recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
